As early as 1989, one of the first private photovoltaic systems was installed at the Eisenring house. At that time, solar power was genuine pioneering work: the cost per installed unit of capacity was many times higher than it is today, the technology was relatively simple, and practical operating experience was scarce.	After almost 30 years of operation, however, the technical lifetime of the system had been reached. Continued operation was therefore no longer economically or technically viable. For this reason, a decision was taken to replace the entire system in 2017.
